Jill Scott was born on April 4, 1972 at Philadelphia Pennsylvania to her mother Joyce Scott. She was raised by both her grandmother and mother. Scott is an all-only child. Scott attended the Philadelphia High School for Girls After graduating, she enrolled in Temple University. She completed her secondary education the course of two years while also working. She planned on becoming an instructor of English at a secondary school. After three years of being an aide to the teacher and a student, her dream to become a high school English teacher was cut short.
